Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll explore the theories and applications of visual anthropology.
You’ll study the legacies of visual representation in the field, alongside contemporary and activist visual work. You’ll examine how visual material is used in research, and in the presentation and consumption of knowledge. This will particularly focus on photography, film and virtual media.
You’ll also investigate visuality, exploring culturally and historically specific ways of seeing, and other sensory interactions with the environment.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
